Every year, SEEDS awards scholarships to student-volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to their community. These Student Community Leadership Awards are divided into 3 categories: High School ($1,000), Post-Secondary ($1,500), and Post-Secondary with Distinction ($2,000).

 

Eligibility Criteria: Individuals nominated for the SEEDS Student Community Leadership Awards must meet each of the following criteria. Please note, these criteria establish eligibility for the awards and meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee that the nominee will receive the award.

 

1. Enrollment:

High School Awards: To be eligible for a SEEDS High School Student Leader Scholarship, the nominee must be in their first year of study at a recognized post-secondary educational institution who has significantly contributed to a charitable campaign during their final year of high school.

Post-Secondary: To be eligible for a SEEDS Post-Secondary Student Leader Scholarship, the nominee must be a student at a recognized post-secondary educational institution who has significantly contributed to a community charitable campaign.

 

2. Community Contribution:

High School Awards: The nominee must have significantly contributed to the coordination of a charitable campaign in their school under the direction of a supervisor (teacher or otherwise). During the campaign, the nominee must have demonstrated exceptional communication skills, creativity, and dedication to their community.

Post-Secondary: The nominee must have significantly contributed to the coordination of a youth charitable campaign, directly supervising youth (high-school aged or younger). During the campaign, the nominee must have demonstrated exceptional communication skills, creativity, and dedication to their community

Senior Post-Secondary: The nominee must have significantly contributed to the coordination of a youth charitable campaign, directly supervising youth.

 

3. Time of Contribution:

All Awards: The contributions of the nominee must have occurred within two years prior to the application.

 

5. Evidence of Post-Secondary Enrollment:

All Awards: The nominee must provide a tuition receipt from a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

Additionally, the supervisor is to write a short letter/essay of nomination to the Selection Committee. This letter should describe the nominee’s charitable activity, addressing each of the nomination eligibility requirements explicitly and providing the Selection Committee with any additional relevant information about the nominee. Completed nominations can be sent to mentorshipcoordinator@theseedsociety.ca. The 2019 award competition is open for applications on August 13th, 2019, and the deadline for nominations is August 20th, 2019

Nominees need not be members of SEEDS, family members of members of SEEDS, or family members of members of the Selection Committee.
